Formula One's Bernie Ecclestone has been forced to clear up a misunderstanding with Lewis Hamilton over his comments that seemed to defend F1 fans in Brazil who dressed up as black men, donned wigs and wore t-shirts with "Hamilton's Family" on them.
In an interview with BBC Radio 5, Ecclestone said that the incident "had nothing to do with racism" and continued to say that he thought it was a joke. Now, Ecclestone has said "I meant they were a joke, clowns."
He then added "I've spoken with Lewis's dad Anthony and he understands, everything's fine." Hamilton became the Formula One's youngest ever champion driver this year. He has faced abuse in Spain and Brazil because of tensions with Fernando Alonso.
