A Danish poker player took down the Las Vegas annual World Series of Poker Main Event to become the 2008 world champion of poker early Tuesday.
Peter Eastgate made a five high straight (known as the wheel) to beat his opponents two pair. He became the youngest ever WSOP Main Event champion at the age of just 22. The record was previously held by Phil Helmuth Jr. set in 1989 (at age 24).
Having beaten a field of 6,844 players he collected a prize of $9,152,416. His opponent may not have made history, but he still received $5,809,595.
