San Francisco Giants Distance Themselves From Barry Bonds

Last year, baseball fans packed San Francisco's stadium to watch Barry Bonds eclipse the all-time major league homerun record. This year, it's a different story -- Bonds will not be re-signed, the team says.

Also, the Giants are removing traces of Bonds' memory from their ballpark. Prominent tributes to his accomplishments have been taken down as Bonds gets ready to fight allegations that he abused steroids and committed perjury.

Bonds' trial is expected to drag out for months. Meanwhile, an image of the outfielder chasing Hank Aaron for the all-time homerun record has been taken off the left-field wall. The team president says the Giants are going in a new direction.

Oscar Pistorius and an Olympic dream - Run, baby, run

Oscar Pistorius is one of the most gifted disabled athletes ever. He runs and competes at the highest level. Even against abled body athletes. He has no legs, but takes on the 'leggies' in their own game.

He runs on blades made just for him - the Blade Runner. And he ran so fast they called these blades “cheetah” blades. He was as fast as a cheetah on the hunt. But now they are saying that he can't compete at the Olympics.

The Beijing Meteorological Bureau, instructed to ensure the roofless Bird's Nest stadium stays dry on the opening of the Olympic Games, say that experiments to prevent light precipitation from occurring have worked using two methods.
Clouds below freezing were sprayed with a liquid nitrogen-based coolant that breaks droplets up into smaller sizes; those above freezing received silver iodide to produce a cloud-suppressing downdraft by speeding the process of droplet coalescence.
The opposite effect may be attempted to force rain to fall before it gets to the Olympics. A pre-Games highlight involving the torch being taken to Mount Everest's top is also being prepared by the bureau, promising "very detailed" wind reports.
